The Department of Small Business Development and its agencies, the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) and the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (Sefa), hosted the Inaugural National Presidential SMME and Co-operatives Awards in Bryanston on 13 November in Johannesburg. The prestige event is to recognise and celebrate the best performing SMMEs, Cooperatives and Ecosystem Enablers. The host of the event was Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams (Minister of the Department of Small Business Development) and Mr Sidumo Dlamini  (Deputy Minister of the Department of Small Business Development).

The event launches the annual Global Entrepreneurship Week. It is a global campaign that helps millions of people unleash their ideas to start and scale new businesses.

The SEFA awards serve in the department’s endeavours to cultivate an enable an environment to develop and nurture innovative ideas and best practices across SME’s in SA.

Bizcash walked away as Fintech of the Year and Ecosystem Enabler of Year. A stunning achievement for such a young business.

The technical partner

Business Science Corporation (“BSC Global”), the development house behind the company, developed the software. BSC Global also manage the day-to-day technical support of the platform. The technical expertise of BSC Global is an intricate part of the Bizcash service offering, and the team is a critical element of the business. The company recently announced partnerships with Old Mutual, SEFA, Telkom, and King Price, to name a few South African businesses that align themselves with the SME lender, which is testament to the ecosystem Bizcash has created.
